Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child or Operation Shoebox
Operation Christmas Child or Shoebox is one of the most giving, a church can do for children around the world.
Our church has a room dedicated just for Operation Shoebox. we collect shoe boxes all the time. And then we have a list of stuff that goes in the box. It is a 24 pack of crayon's, pencils, scissors, rulers, cups, coloring books, pens, notebooks, etc.
When the stuff is brought into the room, its separated and put away in containers. Until the day of filling the shoe boxes. On that day volunteers come in and grab a container with the stuff in it and line up. As the shoe box comes down, they put one thing from the container in it and keep passing it tell the box is filled. Once filled its taped shut and put to the side and we wait tell December. We do this about three times a year.
In December we get all the boxes and take them to Baltimore Distribution Center where they are prepared to be sent off for different children around the world.
Volunteers hold fundraisers to collect and ship items for children around the world for ages 3-12.
